What is the Merit Scholarship?

The Merit Scholarship is an attempt to reward intellectual minds for their academic excellence. Students who are good in academics but lack the financial support to study further can benefit through this grant to explore their higher studies. The Merit Scholarship grant amount is determined by the total number of students appearing for the exam. In 2025, the awarded amounts ranged from $500 to $24,000.

Who Can Apply for the Merit Scholarship?

Students with a score of 6.0+ CGPA from their bachelor's will be eligible. If you are eligible for the Student Bursary, you will also be eligible for the Merit Scholarship. You can also get qualified through our Direct Entry programme.

How Is the Merit Scholarship Awarded?

Every year, Masters Scholarship conducts a standardised exam for students who meet the eligibility criteria. Based on the exam results, top scorers are separated and the Merit grant is awarded.

Sit the Standardised Exam

Eligible students appear for an online exam covering critical thinking, quantitative ability, and language eloquence across 90 questions.

Ranking & Percentile

Your final score determines your rank. Students who fall within the top ~3% qualify for the Merit Scholarship.

Grant Awarded

The scholarship amount awarded is based on your percentile and the total number of students who appeared for the exam.

What Is the Merit Exam Pattern?

The test will assess your critical thinking, quantitative abilities, and language eloquence. The test is conducted online and you'll need to appear for and attend 90 questions. The question pattern may vary each year depending on the student cohort and diverse academic backgrounds. Your final score determines your rank, and if you fall within the top ~3%, you'll receive the Merit Scholarship.

Merit Scholarship FAQs

If you secure a Student Bursary, you will automatically become eligible for the Merit Scholarship as well. You can also qualify through our Direct Entry programme.

No, there is no cap on the number of Merit Scholarships awarded. All eligible students who clear the cutoff in the examination can qualify for the scholarship.
